The United States Lipizzan Registry was formed in 1980 by a dedicated group of Lipizzan enthusiasts. The Registry is committed to perpetuating the Lipizzan horse in the United States and dedicated to preserving the Lipizzaner traits of intelligence, classic beauty and a harmonious way of moving.

The United States Lipizzan Registry has an elected Board of Directors consisting of a
President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and four (4) Directors. The elected Board members each serve a two-year term. Members are invited to participate by serving on a committee or running for office.

The United States Lipizzan Registry provides an opportunity for its Members to be involved with an organization dedicated to a very rare breed with a fascinating history. Only 3,000 to 4,000 Lipizzans exist in the world today. More Lipizzans live in the United States than in any other country.

What You Need to Know About the Adequan®/USDF All-Breeds Awards Program
•Effective 10/1/2009, a completed All-Breeds Declaration Form must accompany all breed or performance registry
papers for a horse to be declared for the USDF All-Breeds Program. The All-Breeds Declaration Form is located on
the USDF Web site.
• The deadline to submit breed or performance registry papers and the All-Breeds Declaration Form is August 1st of the
current competition year, in order to be eligible for USDF All-Breeds Awards.
• Owners of horses without breed or performance registry papers that will be inspected during the months of August
and September should contact USDF prior to August 1st for declaration instructions.
• Check the USDF Web site to verify that your horse has been declared, verify your horse has been accepted by the
breed or performance registry, verify award requirements and finally, to follow the Adequan®/USDF All-Breeds Preliminary
Awards Standings.

The USLR is pleased to announce that the U.S. Equestrian Federation has just approved our application for Affiliate Membership. Our next step is to address upgrading our membership to Recognized Affiliate to better represent our Lipizzan horses as the single recognized association for the breed in the U.S. We've submitted our show rules for their comments, are continuing our discussions with the USEF's Affiliates representatives, and will keep you posted! I'm Muffin Smith, a Director and Secretary for the U.S. Lipizzan Registry, answering your LFA query.
The Lipizzan Federation of America began in 2004 as an umbrella organization of the American Lipizzan Breeders Association (ALBA), the Lipizzan Association of North America (LANA), and the USLR, formed to provide a single U.S. point of contact for our international Lipizzan colleagues and also for the USDF's breed awards. Since then, the member organizations have recognized that three organizations to take care of our approximately 1,500 U.S. Lipizzans is a little inefficient so since 2006, the directors of the three organizations have been working on a common set of Bylaws as well as Rules and Regulations to start a single, member-driven, democratic, organization to perform all the functions of the three original organizations. The process has not been a smooth one but we've worked out the kinks in a set of Bylaws and are close to adopting Rules and Regulations as well. The LFA's Database committee has begun consolidating and reconciling the pedigree databases of the USLR and LANA; the LFA's Finance committee will start planning the consolidation of assets and memberships and then will prepare for the orderly shutdown of the three member organizations.
Obviously we still have a lot of work to do but we hope to get this done this year and to hold our annual meeting as the LFA this fall.
